RCS-R1947 Rutland RR Single-deck Stock Car (Series 1940-80)
This kit is a scalle replica of the 1940-1980 series of 36' single-deck stock cars built for the Rutland RR by the Laconia Car Company. These cars are distinguished by their all-wood superstructure, relatively short 7'8" inside height, and steel underframe with truss rod supports. This kit includes Tichy Train detail parts and accurate thin-film decals. The correct trucks for this car are Bettendorf T-section trucks (kit RCS-R1947-1 contains Kadee Bettendorf T-section trucks).
RCS-R1971 Rutland RR 36' Single-deck Stock Car (Series 1915-30 & 1970-74)
While of similar height, length, and underframe construction to the Rutland's 1940-80 series stock cars, the 1915-30 series stock cars had car sides constructed with with six vertical support posts (as opposed to eight posts in the 1940-80 series cars reproduced in our kit RCS-R1947). The 1915-30 series stock cars were rebuilt from 36' box cars by Rutland shop forces in 1924-27. At least one of the 1940-80 series stock cars (R1971) was rebuilt with six vertical support posts. The six post design appears to have been adopted in 1921 when stock cars 1970-74 were converted to a single-deck configuration (these cars were converted into double-deck stock cars in 1914). Finally retired in 1956, stock cars 1920 and 1971 ended their days in MOW service. This kit includes Tichy Train detail parts and accurate thin-film decals. The correct trucks for this car are Bettendorf T-section trucks (kit RCS-R1971-1 contains Kadee Bettendorf T-section trucks).
